They arise from [their] beds; they supplicate their Lord in fear and aspiration, and from what We have provided them, they spend.
Establish prayer at the decline of the sun [from its meridian] until the darkness of the night and [also] the Qur'an of dawn. Indeed, the recitation of dawn is ever witnessed. (Surah Isra)
It is such a serene time, everything is silent, everything is still, it is so peaceful, it is a time exclusive for you and your Allah. For those who remain away from their beds at night and spread their musallah’s, its benefits are numerous. The enjoyment surpasses the people of this world and whatever their amusement may be. A person who reads Tahajjud, his Rooh becomes illuminated.
It is that time of the night when a person is helped by Allah to suppress his evil desires and to keep them under control. It is a time of the night where it is most effective for the heart, the eye, the ear and the tongue to mutually correspond and conform with one another.
In early Islam, prior to the commandments of the performance of the five daily Salaah being revealed, Tahajjud was obligatory on Nabi (S.A.W) and the Sahaba (R.A). This commandment was executed with great sincerity and enthusiasm. Compare their engaging in Ibaadat all night with sincere devotion and concentration to our fumbling efforts at two in the morning when the warmth of our beds beckon and the lure of sleep threatens to overcome us whilst in sujood. When the aayah: “Now read as much as is easy of the Qur’aan” was revealed, the compulsion of Tahajjud was abrogated. This however was not a deterrent as they continued to remain steadfast upon Tahajjud.
The tongue is reciting
The ear is listening
The heart is absorbing
The honour of a believer lies in Tahajjud Salaah.
Allah is pleased with that person who stands in Tahajjud Salaah.
Tahajjud is a cure for jealousy and a cure for physical ailments. It cures evils of the heart and nafs.
Those who perform Tahajjud Salaah, on The Day of Qiyaamah they will enter Jannah without reckoning.
The virtue of night prayer over day prayer is like the virtue of secret charity over open charity.
It builds the love of the Hereafter in your heart.
Tahajjud Salaah softens the heart and humbles you in front of Allah.
Nabi (S.A.W) said: “Observe the night prayer as it was the practice of the righteous before you and it brings you closer to your Rabb. It is an expiation of evil deeds, a barrier from sins and it repels diseases from the body.”
It brings you closer to Allah.
